Civic Engagement
To engage young business professionals in volunteer opportunities, public policy and government.
Civic Engagement Committee:
The Civic Engagement Committee focuses on Government, Public Policy and getting members involved on City and County Boards and Commissions. This committee’s goals are getting young business professionals engaged in the community, providing events where people will be excited and comfortable coming to, allow the potential for individuals to continue their networking circle and to connect young business professionals with the community at large. The Civic Engagement Committee is also responsible for the annual Chamber Rising Professionals volunteer day. This committee meets every third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in joining a committee please contact us at 719-575-4316.
Throughout the year, the Chamber Rising Professionals will be working to provide City and County board opportunities to our members. This will allow young business professionals to experience first hand the issues that business leader’s face and allow them to help develop solutions to these issues.
The Chamber Rising Professionals (CRPs) are proud to announce a new program:
Adopt-a-Non-Profit!
The Chamber Rising Professionals are proud to announce our 2011 Adopt-a-Non-Profit: The Home Front Cares!
The Home Front Cares mission is to “provide support for military families impacted by deployment in harms way.” The Home Front Cares is a non- profit 501(c) corporation that has helped more than 1,800 families, contributing over $1,330,000 in aid since their founding in 2003. They deliver assistance to the military community in the State of Colorado through a close collaboration with the Army Community Service at Fort Carson and the Family Support Centers at the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, and Schriever Air Force Base. The family support centers identify and verify financial needs.
This year’s Adopt-a-Non-Profit needs assistance with Branding and Marketing. We are currently looking for CRP members who would like to serve on a taskforce lasting about 3-4 months to tackle the branding needs of The Home Front Cares. The first meeting will take place in mid to late February. If you are interested in serving on this taskforce please contact Sandy Wenger at 719-575-4317 or sandy@cscc.org.
We will also be partnering with The Home Front Cares for our Annual Volunteer Day in June and Spirit of the Season event in December.
