The Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority is looking for interested citizens to fill vacancies on the Urban Renewal Board. The Urban Renewal Authority is looking for applicants with backgrounds in finance, urban planning and real estate. Experience in redevelopment, master planning and familiarity with the City’s Development Review Process is desirable.

Volunteers Needed For El Paso County Boards and Commissions

Colorado Springs, January 25, 2012 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking a community-minded citizen volunteer to serve on the Fairgrounds Corporation. Applications for the open position are due by February 10, 2012.

The Fairgrounds Corporation is a non-profit corporation established by the El Paso County Board of Commissioners to acquire, manage and/or hold a liquor license assigned to the El Paso County Fairgrounds; to coordinate the use of the El Paso County Fairgrounds for special events during which the consumption of alcohol is desired; and through its operation, to provide funding to support the El Paso County Fair, the El Paso County Fair and Events Complex, and the El Paso County 4-H program. It consists of five members who are appointed for three-year terms and who may not serve for more than three successive terms.

Applicants are asked to reference the board and position they wish to represent and include a mailing address and daytime phone number. CRP Shooting Range Event

Back by popular demand! Ready, Aim, Fire!!! Join the Chamber Rising Professionals for this hour-long Shooting Event exclusively for CRP members at Whistling Pines, a Private Members-Only Shooting Range. Fire away with the Chamber Rising Professionals as we visit the exclusive Whistling Pines Gun Club in Colorado Springs. This is Colorado Springs only in-door shooting range and is typically a member’s only luxury. But, you can be a VIP with CRP at this one-of-a-kind event if you hurry and reserve your spot today! We are limited to just 40 people!

Orientation and a safety briefing will begin at 5:30 p.m. and range time will run from approximately 5:45 to 6:45 p.m (1st session) and 6:45 to 8pm (2nd session). If you would like to try a new firearm or do not own one, Whistling Pines offers great prices on rentals. For $10 you can shoot up to three different firearms, or, for $15, you can shoot an unlimited amount of firearms. Rentals will need to purchase ammunition at Whistling Pines ($18-$26). If you bring your own firearms, please make sure they are in a case during transportation and as you enter and exit the building. Cost is $35 per person (CRP Members only). Click here to register.

Volunteer needed to serve on Historic Preservation Board

City of Colorado Springs seeks applicants to serve on the Historic Preservation Board. This volunteer board acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in implementing the Historic Preservation program for the City. It initiates the Historic Preservation Overlay Zone and administers the review of building or demolition permits for properties that are zoned Historic Preservation, among other responsibilities. Meetings take place on the first Monday of even numbered months from 4:30 – 7 p.m. and special meetings may be called for specific projects. Members of the board also serve on committees that maintain a separate meeting schedule.

Are you looking for a great way to help serve your community? The Briargate YMCA branch is looking for some community members who share in its mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. As a non-profit, the needs that are critical to delivering and maintaining these community services of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility are at an all time high and we could use some volunteers in helping to not only raise contributed funds to support the mission but also provide the professional talent to make it happen.
