They are the 3rs Saturday of the month and will run until September or October, depending on the weather.

One of Mayor Bach’s key objectives is to build community and encourage citizen involvement to make Colorado Springs the best city in the country. If everyone in Colorado Springs gives just a little of their time and energy, we can make our City great. Each month, Mayor and Suzi Bach host a park cleanup event as a part of his Spirit of the Springs initiatives and ask volunteers to take an active role in cleaning up community parks and trails.

We would like to extend this invitation to your organization to join us at our next park clean up event on Saturday, May 19 at 9:45 a.m. at Goose Gossage Park (3950 Mark Dabling Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80907). All that is needed is water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and your desire to make our community a better place.

The Independence Center works to encourage individuals with disabilities to live the independent life they choose for themselves. We empower, encourage and equip people of all ages to understand and accept their disabilities—and not let their circumstances prevent them from being contributing members of society. Needless to say, the work we do is extraordinary and such a resource in this community. On October 4th-6th we will partner with other agencies to host The Adapted Home. The premise here is that we will work with The University of Colorado to construct a home within the confines of Freedom Financial Expo Center. There are several partners that have committed to assisting us with loaner items to turn the walls of this façade into a home: everything from outfitting the house with furniture, to providing the volunteers needed to make this event a success. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Courtney at athouse@theindependencecenter.org.
